A really early start

And then they were dead...or half dead!

It was one hundred percent volunteer and in effect it was at own risk. I knew why we were there I knew what we’ll see but what I most definitely didn’t expect was the effect it would have on me. And not instantly, it crept up slowly and caught up with me by the time we were on our way to the academy after having some much needed coffee at the boys’ house.

To make my opinion very clear the previous heading “Pest Control or Murder?” was quite apt. I’m here to study Nature Conservation and killing off around two million birds to save some food for mankind is ridicules to say the least.

It was'n all bad though, we were able to save a few none target species; an owl ; a Buffalo Eagret and a puff adder. The one we (myself,Lydon-a second year-,and Christian) very almost steped on. Seeing Cobus battle the snake confirmed one thing for me tough, i won't very willingly handle a snake of any size.

Laughter the best medicine?

Most definitely yes!

Before lunch Chef guided us trough the differences between policies; procedures; rules and regulations.

After an extremely draining morning and a long debriefing with Cobus we went back to the boys’ house and had great fun with Chef. We worked trough “Maintain Health, hygiene and a professional appearance” in our POE folders. This included a very funny and somewhat embarrassing talk about everyone’s hygienic habits. And then auctioning off four students with either good os bad cleanliness habits.
